  2. It was similar in the fact that they were both terrorist attacks but different in many other ways. Pearl Harbor was a continuous attack and by that I mean guns, missiles, etc. were fired continuosly. 9/11 was a single traumatic event. Pearl Harbor was also different because it was an attack made by a country's army. 9/11 was an attack planned by a group of people. Though they differ in many ways, they were both horrible attacks that caused much suffering to the U.S.

  3. i think they are like eachother in a way because they are both terroist attacks and they both took hard work and a lot of planning. 9-11 was not a ton of pepole who were involoved but pearl harbor was so i think they are the same and different.

  4. 9/11 and Pearl Harbor have many similarities but differences at the same time. First, Pearl Harbor was attacked by a country while 9/11 was attacked by a group of terrorists. 9/11 was a fatal plane crash that occurred in New York that was taken by terrorists. Meanwhile, Pearl Harbor was a war that continuously used guns, bombs, machines, etc. Both caused many casualties and left a permanent mark on the United States.

  5. 9/11 and pearl harbor are alike in that they were both terrorist attacks against the united states. they were both defining moments in the us's history and were shocking and fearful events. another similarity is that following pearl harbor, president roosevelt signed the declaration of war against japan the next day, and following 9/11, the us went to war with iraq. however, they differ in the ways the attacks were carried out and the countries involved.

  6. I agree. The similarities between those two attacks seem to be more prominent than anyone could have imagined. Before the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Roosevelt administration ignored the escalating signs that a surprise attack somewhere in the Pacific was looming. This is comparable to the 8 months after the 9/11 attack, and how the Bush administration did the same thing. There are many similarities including how the terrorist attacks were played out. Both were carried out in planes that had been unsuspected as hazardous and killer at the time. Like the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor has been called a crucial moment in U.S. history. It caught the country by surprise, rallied its people in opposition to their attackers and thrust the nation into a long, difficult war against totalitarianism. Both the Pearl Harbor and Sept. 11 attacks had another similar consequence, pushing the United States into war. The only differences between the two are the countries they are procured from and the core method of the attacks.

  7. I agree that Pearl Harbor was similar to Pearl Harbor. It was a terrorist attack on America. Period. Some differences were that it was 2 different countries and nobody hijacked anything. Thousands of brave Americans died on both days though. Some similarities were that we reacted well to both situations: bombing on Hiroshima and starting a war with Alcadia. I know if any country completes another terrorist attack on the USA...they will be destroyed.

  8. I think that they are very similar with a couple differences but both were a shock. In pearl harbor it was a shock to the Americans because they were neutral but they were aware that a war was going on even though they didn't expect to be part of it.In addition a lot of innocent people died and sacrificed in both situations. But its different because 9/11 was a hijacking and their wasn't a major world war going on and it was way more impossible to see it coming and it was aimed towards civilians not in the army.

  9. I agree that they are similar with minor differences. In 9/11 it was terrorists, while the attack against Pearl Harbor was to begin a war. They were similar to the fact that they were both in very special places in the U.S. and that they were both suprise attacks.

  10. i think they were very similar but like everyone else there were a few small differences. the first reason they were so similar is because they were both so unexpected. no one knew that two planes would come crashing through the twin towers, and of course no one knew or could prevent the japanese from bombing all of pearl harbor. i also think they also both involved planes. the main reason they are different though is because 9/11 was a terrorist attack while the pearl harbor situation was the japanese trying to start a war and hopes to claim territory over hawaii.

  11. I think they are similar. People didn't know that the planes that were flying were actually bad people. For example, at pearl harbor, everyone that they were US planes so they didn't mind them till they started shooting. On 9/11, everyone just watched not knowing what was going on. They are both terrorist attacks from other countries that hate the US, and many people died.

  12. Yes they are similar in the fact that they were both attacks on American soil. However they are very different because of the events that occured with Pearl Harbor and 9/11. Pearl Harbor was an attack on the Navy ship yard in Hawaii by the Japanese. 9/11 was 2 planes crashing into the Twin Towers in New York City, 1 plane crashing into the Penatgon in Washington DC, and 1 plain in an open field in Pennslyvania by the terrorist organization al-Qaida. Pearl Harbor also had ground attacks while 9/11 was just the plane crashes.

  13. I think pearl harbor and 9/11 are alike because they both were attacks and caused a ton o destruction and commotion. they both are similar because they caused fear and a huge change in the world and the countries involved. One attack was in hawaii though and one in new york and the destruction of the twin towers and the destruction in hawaii. 9/11 involved 2 planes crashing into buildings and made the united states focus more on security in airports and planes. Pearl harbor was an attack on hawaii and through the harbor.

  14. I agree and disagree. They are similar, first and for most, because both resulted in countless casualties and shocked the nation. Both events also paved a straight path to war for the US. Pearl Harbor led to the United States' entering World War II and 9/11 led to the beginning of the Iraq War. Obviously both are different as there were different countries involved and the methods of destruction were different (bombing ships vs. destroying important structures by taking over a plane). However, in the end, both were traumatic and catastrophic events that really caught America by surprise.

  16. I agree and disagree because it was similar of how 9/11 and the pearl harbor was a terriost attack and it consisted of an american unity. But they were different because there were in different countries, and different situations of the start.

  17. I believe that 9/11 and Pearl Harbor are similar in many ways. They were both terrorist attacks on American land that resulted in thousands of casualties. Both attacks shocked our country and were defining moments in US history. Also, the two attacks pushed the US into war.

  18. I agree with the opinion that 9/11 and Pearl Harbor are similiar due to the fact that these are the only attacks by foreign nations on U.S. soil to have occured since our fight for independance. Both attacks were unexpected, and both attacks were extremely expensive to repair from, and both attacks left the nation quivering in fear of what is going to happen next.

  19. It was similar in the fact that they were both terrorist attacks but different in many other ways. Pearl Harbor was a continuous attack and by that I mean guns, missiles, etc. were fired continuously. 9/11 was just a single attack that killed many hundreds of people. But they are also very different in some ways as-well. Pearl Harbor was an attack on the military base in pearl harbor, destroying numerous supplies, ships, submarines, and people. 9/11 on the other hand, was an attack on the American people as a whole. they were both very devastating and killed many hundreds of people, so both the Japanese and Al-Qaida were very successful in there missions

  20. They were both similar in the way that they were both terrorist attacks, and that many people died. However, I think the motives for each attack were different.

  21. i agree and disagree. 9/11 and pearl harbor both were terrorist attacks targeted towards the United States and they both were planned out for many years. They both were big events happening in United States history that caused them to go to war. They are also different because Pearl Harbor was cause by an actual nation, The Japanese Empire, and 9/11 was caused by a terrorist group, Al-Qaida.

  22. They were similar because they were both attacks on the united states. I think the diffrences are greater than the similarities because the attacks were made at diffrent periods of time and for diffrent reasons.

  23. I think that the Pearl Harbor attack and 9/11 were both very traumatic events that hurt many people, but they were very different. Pearl harbor was a planned attack from another countries army whereas 9/11 was a terrorist attack that originated from a select group of extremists, not from the countries government. Another thing that sets them apart is that 9/11 was a single attack meant to hurt many people and kill the terrorist himself. Pearl Harbor was a military attack with many different plans. (gunmen bombs and other forms of attack)

  24. I do agree that Pearl Harbor was some what similar to 911 but not entirly. I believe it was because just as the terrorist did on 911 the japanese did intend to strike fear into the american people and both did suceed. Otherwise, I believe they have almost no similarites besides the fact that they were both a surprise. Pearl Harbor was a militaristic effort where as 911 was solely a terror attack.

  25. they were similar in the fact that they were terrorist attacks and many americans died . I think the motive was different and so was the response. Blitzkrieg attacks made towards america.

  26. i agree that Pearl Harbor was similar to 911 in some ways. They were both terrorist attacks upon the united states. However the attacks were for different reasons. Pearl Harbor i think was a more planned out attack and used a lot more weapons, where 911 was one attack using planes which killed thousands of innocent people. They were both very dramatic events but for different reasons.

  27. i believe that the attacks on pearl harbor and 9/11 were similar but mostly different. Theya re similar in the fact that both were terrible attacks on US soil but not quite the same. Pearly harbor was an attack absed on Japanese fear of US naval power, which resulted in the dropping of atomic weapons on Japanese soil. 9/11 attacks were different beacuse they were attacks by terrorist organizations bent on causing as much collateral damage as possible. even in their differeneces, both attacks were devastating and frightning on American soil.

  29. In some ways 9/11 and pearl harbor are the same. Both were seemingly surprise attacks and both could have been prevented if people were doing their jobs right. The difference is that the world was already in WWII when pearl harbor happened so it could have been for seen to happen, but 9/11 was at a somewhat war free time around the world
