I think that there are reasons why a country can go to war, such as trying to gain independence, fighting for a cause they believe in, or defending their land. When America was at war with Britain during the Revolutionary War, I believe we had a valid excuse to do so, because we didn't want to be under another countries rule anymore. However, I don't think it's ok to go to war with a country just because you don't get along with them. I also believe that wars shouldn't go on for years when nothing is really getting done.
In my opinion, there are absolutely no reasons to go to war, back then and especially today. During the process, a war kills many innocent lives and destroys families and close friends. You lose loved ones and most of the time, get nothing in return. Most countries will usually go to war for typical reasons such as gaining independence or for unjust rules/laws. Back then, many countries have gone to war with one another at some point. I believe without all those wars that occurred, America wouldn't be what it is today.
i think that there are certain reasons that people/countries should go to war. some examples are independence, fighting for right to own land and pretty much anything that you are passionate about. Like in the revolutionary war, the americans did not want to be ruled by britain any longer so we revolted and as a result, we are a free country. the people/country should only go to war if something major happens, not just because you dont like them or they dont like you. So there are some boundaries that cant be crossed but i think that if the situation is right, war is a good thing
I believe that war is not always the answer to everything that we do. In order to go to war we should have already tried a bunch of other tactics in order to solve whatever problem is being disputed. However in some cases we have to take stronger measures and that sometimes means going to war. I don't believe that war is the answer, but sometimes more or less necessary. People or countries or whoever is on there way to be in a war, have reasons backing their actions. They are usually fighting for something that they believe in and want it so badly, that fighting for it is the last and final impact that they can do. In a war many lives are risked and some even taken, but at least they knew what they were fighting for. Finally, even though i don't believe violence is the resolution, eventually things get taken out of perspective and creates a war.
I think there are many good reasons to go to war. One of which is anger. Such as 9/11/01. We were furious after those lunatics high-jacked our planes and killed innocent Americans. We needed to go into their country and DESTROY them. Every last person of Alcadia needs to be murdered. Anger, a legitimate reason to go to war.
Well every war has a reason whether it be from gaining independence to revenge for broken deals/promises/treaties.Technically there is always a reason for war but war shouldn't be the answer.Unfortunately its one of or THE only way most people will listen or settle something. If people could keep deals and be reasonable and act humane we wouldn't have to result to war but that's just what happens. And people loose there lives and loved ones.. its just a sad reality we have created.
I believe that war is a necessary event if the safety of a nation or of its people is at risk. Sometimes when no solution can be met, only the strength and military of a nation will protect its people. And many times war is fought for other reasons such as territory or money. This is when war is unacceptable. If allowed, any other choice of action is better. But when certain events occur, or the lives of people are at risk, war becomes the only means of defense. Justin S.
obviously war between two nations cause much unwanted destruction and disturbance to the parties not involved. i do not think war is ethical because of all of the chaos it causes and it forces people to be hurt. however, if it is so necessary to go to war, it can promote people to have nationalism and belief in their country. they are able to go to great measures for something they want. gandhi was not a believer in war because he promoted civil disobedience and thought violence was not the answer. hitler, on the other hand, did whatever he could, even if it meant a genocide of the jewish people, to get his way.
i believe there are some cases where it is fine to go to war and some cases were it isnt. for example what happened with 9/11 yes we wanted to get back at them but we arent handling it the right why because while we are killing some bad people we are also killing many innocent ones as well. i feel like we could have tried to handle it in a nicer way without killing a huge amount of people. Lauren Goss
yes, i do belive there are some cases where there should be war. Primarily sauverign countries are by constitutional and/or goverment mandate to defend ones countries (borders).Secondly, morality dictates that cultural genocide(like what the germans did to nazis durring WWII for exampel with the concentration camps) could also be a reason to go to WAR.
I believe that there are some reasons to go to war. These would be things such as stopping a nayltion that is doing injustice to others such as the Nazis were in world war 2 or to gain independence for a tyranical nation that is ruling over another such as America did to gain its independence from Great Britain.
i believe there sometimes are and are not. if it meant helping a country or fighting back for protection then yes i do. but fighting for no specific reason or getting involved with another country's problems isnt a good reason because now our country is only making ourself more vulnerable for attack and more war in the future. but i personally do not think war should be the answer. i feel we should be as violence free as possible because that what Gandhi did and he ended up succeeding with what he wanted done !
I believe that there is a reason for ever thing, even for war. For countries to get what they want, if it is for a massive thing, then war is usually the answer. I believe that war is usually a necessary thing, but not for genocide and killing random innocent civilians. Wars are generally brutal, but no one can really do anything about that. People who are against war, do not get the outcome they want. For people who are anti-war, war is inevitable because for a country to want one thing, it mostly means that another country wont want it or what is going to happen. The first country is not going to just say, "Well alright then." they will fight for what they want and or what they believe is there's.
In my opinion i think there is never a good reason to go to war. If something is so important to a person that they are willing to risk the well being of themsleves and loved ones then it can be compromised. War is a terrible thing, and families get destroyed in the process. I believe that war substitues as an imature way to solve a problem. I mean, "what is it good for? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!"
it depends, if countries are doing something unjust or harmful to other countries, maybe its a good idea to go to war. You can try to make peace but that doesn't always work. It isn't the greatest thing to do but might be the only thing to do. It is sad about all the people being killed during wars, but they might be fighting for a good cause. I don't think violence is always the answer. People might want to go to war for land, or even independence.
I am not sure if there is ever a reason to go to war, because I have not experienced anything in my lifetime big enough to go to war. I'm not saying that 9/11 was not big but it was a terrorist attack on the U.S not an attack from everyone in Afghanistan. I think in those instances we should send troops over and stop the terrorist groups, not start killing people and blowing things up. I am not educated enough on what is going on in Iraq to comment on what we should be doing, but I think there is always a better way to achieve something than violence. I am not much of a violent person but if a country threatens to attack us then we have the right to defend ourselves, or other countries, but I do not think war should ever be declared on another country to gain territory or resources.
Yes and no. There can be reasons to go to war like countries don't like each other one country did something to another and that could start a war like japan bombing pearl harbor caused the the u.s. to go to war with japan during WW II. However there are reasons not to go to war like the u.s. going into iraq. bush though that there nuclear weapons in iraq but there were none to be found and we are still in iraq today.
The main reason for a war is to protect one's opinions, beliefs, land, freedoms, etc. Basically, when we fear for the security of something that we hold dearly, it leads to war. And you may be thinking that there are other alternatives to war, but in reality, there are not many. War is actually a really good thing when done correctly. War that involves an overwhelming amount of casualties is just nonsense. It defeats the purpose, in my opinion. For one side to get what they want, it can involve no deaths at all. Take the Glorious Revolution for example - not one death. So to answer the question: yes, there are many reasons to go to war, and as long as the reason is valid and it does not involve thousands or even millions of deaths, it can be a good thing. All nations and people have the right to fight for what they believe in.
I believe that there is always a reason why countries go to war against one another. Of course there are motives to fight when conflicts arise, but I do not believe that war is the solution or a rational form of conflict resolution. In my opinion, using killing, fighting, bombs, and guns is a very primitive and illogical way to solve a problem. By now I would hope that leaders from around the world could talk out their conflicts and issues until everything is settled. I think that we are too advanced to be killing each other, and that war is very unreasonable. However, I feel that nationalism, religion, and people's beliefs sometimes cloud their judgement, making them believe that war is the answer and a completely logical solution. Also, war can arise when there is corruption within the government of a country, and the citizens of that country feel compelled to rebel against their government (like the Indian Independence Movement.) To conclude, although I do not support war, I understand why war occurs, and I acknowledge the human flaws that lead us to it.
yes - for example when the hitler was taking over countries tried diplomacy and it did nothing he simply overlooked the promises he made and took over . Their was no alternative to war in that situation. Their are other examples were war is just unnecessary such as the current war in the middel east which is was supposed to be about our homeland security but turned into a civillian slaughtering almost 105,000 documented dead civillians and only 24,000 known terrorists
Yes there are reasons people would want to go to war. For example, fighting to protect your country from the other country(s) that want to blow it up. Or being angry about something horrible that one country did to your country (America Ex: Pearl Harbor, 911, ect). But personaly do I think that there are reasons to declare war? No, war only leads to more fighting eventualy, and in the end both sides end with a bunch of people dead.
I think there are times when it is okay to go to war whether you are fighting for your independence or for land. However i do not believe war is the best way to handle situations such a these. People have been solving there problems with war for years now and i don't think that is going to change.
I feel a good time to go to war is when there is a threat to national security, your allies security, or a treaty is violated. I feel that when Germany invaded the territory it was forbidden from was a perfect time to declare war. Also, i feel that 9/11 justified the cause of going to war in the Middle East, along with Pearl Harbor and Japan, because both attacks were threats to our national security, and the security of other nations from terrorism.
In my opinion, i think there are reasons why people may want to attempt war for there own situations. but people should never actually solve there problems by going off to war to fight. there may be a sitation when people may have to fight and save their own country or your fighting for your own independence. but other than that, there should be absolutly no reason to go off killing eachother for no purpose.
Personally, I think war is absolutely pointless. Many people have been ruthlessly murdered over the horrible misdeeds of those who create the anger and aggression in war. Many innocent people have been brutally slaughtered for no misdeeds from their own hand but from the misdeeds of the country that had promised them a peaceful residency. Politicians are idiotic. Our leaders are violent parsimonious and outright spineless people and sadly many don’t see that until a dismal situation. The main reasons for war are Money, Nationalism, Religion, Territorial gain, Resources, Imperialism, and Revenge.
Do you see a coincidence? Because I do, Hitler’s regime was based on all of these factors. He pushed those who were in dire help throughout the depression to support him because otherwise they would have minimal choices; he believed that Germany was superior to all countries because they were of pre “Aryan” race. He wished for territorial gain and the ability to have one hand above other countries while taking revenge on those who put Germany in their place.
War is a despicable thing that is also caused by the stupidity and greed of the government. Our governments are constantly scared of war. The US, as a country, is one of the worst. We ignore those outside our bubble till something drastic happens that affects us and bursts our metaphoric bubble, such as the bombing on Pearl Harbor, which pushed us into the war.
I think war is just another way for countries to tell each other who is better and who holds the upper hand on all of those who do not actively participate in the governmental system. It is a stupid consept and rarley gets anything useful done. Most wars end in new treaties and laws anyway.
There can be justified reasons for war, however not in all circumstances. If we go to war because our country is attacked such as on 911 then that is justified. But, if we were to attack countries and genocide the people to create a totalitarian state like hitler this would not be just. War is usually used as a means to an end, but that is only after diplomacy has been tried. In conclusion, war can be just but not before diplomacy has been tried and failed.

War kills many innocent people and should not be taken lightly.Only go to war if it absolutely necessary.
i think that war is okay in some situations. I think it is okay if the people first try to come to an agreement but can not solve it, or if your are fighting for something you truely believe in like your religion or home.
I do believe there are some cirsumstances where war is acceptable. Its important for a country to stand up for what it belives in, and to protect their people. But when war is used to frighten others, or when a country fights another country's war its not acceptable. -kelly hayden
